July 2025: Sol Bernstein Headlines Prestwich Comedy

Clear your diary and prep your laughing gear – Prestwich Comedy is coming at you with a double dose of stand-up this July, and it’s all headlined by the one and only Sol Bernstein.

That’s right – on Sunday 6th July, the legendary comic (and self-proclaimed jazz club owner, boxer, and survivor of everything except tact) brings his razor-sharp wit and old-school charm to two laugh-packed shows.

Meet The Headliner: Sol Bernstein

After 25 years of semi-retirement – playing nursing homes, community centres and the odd bat mitzvah – Sol Bernstein is back where he shines: in smokey nightclubs, performing to people with just the right amount of lager in their system.

He’s shared stories (and occasionally a dressing room) with the likes of Judy Garland, Lenny Bruce, Tommy Cooper, and Eddie Large. He’s graced venues like The London Palladium, Carnegie Hall, The Paris Olympia, Caesars Palace Las Vegas… and Scunthorpe Baths. But it’s on the club circuit where Sol truly comes to life.

Karl Porter

You’ve seen the viral slow-mo goal celebration – now catch the real deal live. Karl Porter’s brand of high-energy, physical comedy has taken the internet by storm, but on stage he’s even funnier. Fast-rising and full of surprises, he’s one to watch.

The Edi Johnston Bit

Think musical comedy… then make it weirder, warmer, and far more likely to involve a Greggs reference. With his ukulele, flat cap, and wonderfully daft lyrics, The Edi Johnston Bit is one-of-a-kind – and guaranteed to get you giggling.

Your Host and Compère – Big Lou!

Holding it all together (just about), it’s the one and only Big Lou – your master of ceremonies, local legend, and the beating heart of Prestwich Comedy. With his razor-sharp crowd work, booming laugh, and no-nonsense Northern charm, Lou is more than just a host – he’s part of the furniture (the loud, loveable armchair your nan would never throw out).

Whether he’s warming up the room, roasting the front row, or wrangling comedians between pints, Lou guarantees every show kicks off with energy and ends on a high. Simply put: it wouldn’t be Prestwich Comedy without him.
